Laitgras is a 50% fat filled whey powder used as a raw material in the
production of milk replacers, prestarters and compound feed. It is
manufactured by Leches Maternizadas S.A. (LEMASA, Spain). Karpatski Zori
is the official supplier of Laitgras in Ukraine.
Laitgras is a free-flowing white powder. It is produced by blending
liquid whey — obtained during cheese production — with edible oils or
fats. The blend is homogenised and spray dried with hot air at the LEMASA
plant in Spain.
Each fat particle is coated with milk protein and lactose. This is
microencapsulated fat in a dairy coating.
Fresh liquid whey is delivered from cheese plants to the LEMASA factory,
transported at low temperature and goes straight into production.
The oils and fats used in Laitgras are food grade, have low acidity, are
stabilised, free of impurities and subject to continuous quality control.
Available options:
The production technology allows one or several fat types to be used in
different ratios, according to the customer’s formulation. For products
with halal, kosher or vegetarian labelling requirements, versions based
exclusively on vegetable oils are supplied. The composition of the fat
component is always stated in the batch documentation.
Milk powder replacement. Laitgras costs significantly less than whole
milk powder at twice the fat content.
Fat already in dry form. No separate equipment for liquid fat — the
product is added as an ordinary free-flowing component.
Storage stability. The whey-solids coating protects the fat from
oxidation.
Digestibility and palatability. Microencapsulated fat is well
absorbed by young animals and does not reduce feed intake.
Consistent quality. Unchanged specifications from batch to batch and
complete solubility.

Ordinary sweet whey powder contains virtually no fat and provides only lactose. In Laitgras the fat is embedded in the whey and dried together with it, so the product is a source of both energy and carbohydrates.
In most formulations, partially. Laitgras does not replace milk powder
entirely — it complements it, raising the fat content and energy value of the blend. The exact ratio depends on the target fat and protein content. We assist with recalculation and supply samples for trials.
Depending on the order — refined coconut, palm or sunflower oil, pork fat, or a combination. For products with halal, kosher or vegetarian labelling requirements, versions based exclusively on vegetable oils are supplied.
No. The product is free-flowing and is added as an ordinary dry component, unlike liquid fats which require heating and dosing systems.
